MW4 DMZ Comms Module locations and Ingredient Printing unlock
Choose a search you can finish and extract the modules before spending them on equipment.
Comms Modules are Epic ingredients. Current community searches include Cheonwang Peak Array, guarded crashed-drone Side Ops and upstairs tech rooms in eastern Deadtown. None has a verified guaranteed drop. Printing one costs 100 Electronics and 3 CPU after Epic Ingredient Printing; the earlier Uncommon Ingredient Printing upgrade itself needs five Comms Modules, so that upgrade does not solve its own collection requirement.
- Reserve five for Uncommon Ingredient Printing
- Epic recipe: 100 Electronics + 3 CPU
- Crashed large drones differ from flying small drones
- A reported route is not a guaranteed spawn
Save your first Comms Modules for the upgrade you are actually trying to buy. Their Epic rarity does not make every military container an efficient search, and printing them requires a later unlock than the one many players are currently funding.
Check whether your problem is a recipe or an upgrade
At the 3D Printer, open the relevant panel and write down the remaining cost. The recorded Uncommon Ingredient Printing purchase needs 50,000 DMZ Cash, 20 Biomaterials, 10 High-Tenacity Fibers and five Comms Modules. These are upgrade costs, not the materials used to print a single module.
The Comms Module recipe instead lists 100 Electronics and three CPU, with Epic Ingredient Printing required. Buying the Uncommon upgrade does not unlock an Epic recipe. If Epic printing is still locked, plan a field search rather than collecting Electronics for an unavailable shortcut.
Choose a field search that fits your deployment
| Search | What supports it | What to check before committing |
|---|---|---|
| Cheonwang Peak Array | Original loot-route footage and community runs | Your approach, defenders and a workable exit |
| Already-crashed large drone | Player reports of a guarded Side Op and side panel | The actual activity and panel; not a small flying drone |
| Eastern Deadtown tech rooms | Player reports of upstairs computer/comms rooms in light-blue buildings | The interior and remaining loot, not merely the building color |
These are different evidence levels, not a ranking by drop chance. No measured probability, guaranteed container or repeatable quantity is established. Avoid crossing the entire map because one player found several modules in one run.
Cheonwang Peak Array: use the tech-loot route
The Cheonwang Peak Array is a documented loot destination, including original footage used in the Recipe and Manual route comparison. Search the accessible tech interiors and read loose ingredient names while following a route you can reverse.
Treat the safes and the module search as separate opportunities. A run that produces a Weapon Manual does not prove that its safes always contain Comms Modules. Likewise, a nearby locked room is not automatically required for every ingredient pickup. Check the prompt before spending a key and leave if the remaining search would exceed your supplies.
Crashed drone and Deadtown alternatives
For the drone report, identify an already-crashed large drone, clear its guards and inspect the side panel. Players describe an activity that may appear only when approached. Shooting random small drones and expecting the same loot is a different, unverified method.
In Deadtown, the reported lead is upstairs computer/comms rooms in light-blue buildings on the eastern side. Search the rooms and containers rather than repeatedly sweeping the street. The report does not establish an exact floor plan or guarantee that an untouched-looking room contains a module.
If either activity is missing or already looted, switch to a nearby useful objective or extract. Repeating a short, survivable route can be a better decision than extending a weak deployment into a high-threat area; that is planning advice, not a claim about spawn mechanics.
Extract, reserve and spend deliberately
Check the item name and quantity in your backpack before leaving. At the FOB, confirm the stash total and set aside the five modules if Uncommon printing is your next purchase. Avoid selling the same ingredients you are about to need, or consuming them in a gear recipe without comparing the benefit.
For other missing parts, use crafting material locations and the current Ingredient Locations panel. The crafting guide explains the wider unlock process; this page focuses on choosing a Comms Module search and avoiding the printing bottleneck.
Quick questions
Where should I look for Comms Modules?
Compare Cheonwang Peak Array with player-reported crashed large-drone Side Ops and upstairs computer rooms in eastern Deadtown. Choose a route suited to your kit; none has a verified drop rate here.
Can I print a Comms Module?
The recorded recipe costs 100 Electronics and 3 CPU, after Epic Ingredient Printing is unlocked. Uncommon Ingredient Printing alone does not unlock this Epic recipe.
Why do I need five Comms Modules?
The recorded Uncommon Ingredient Printing upgrade requires five, alongside 50,000 DMZ Cash, 20 Biomaterials and 10 High-Tenacity Fibers. Confirm the current panel before purchasing.
Do small drones guarantee Comms Modules?
No such guarantee is established. The player-reported drone route describes an already-crashed large drone with guards and a side panel, not ordinary small airborne drones.
