MW4 DMZ: everything we know before launch

This page gathers every confirmed DMZ fact in one place. Each section links to the full guide and the database pages behind it.

Release

• DMZ early access: Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 10 AM PT worldwide, for digital pre-orders on any platform. A required update arrives by 9 AM PT on October 19, and early access XP carries over.
• Full launch: October 23, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Xbox app, Battle.net, Steam) and Nintendo Switch 2. Not on Game Pass until Holiday 2027.
• Vault Edition DMZ bonus: +1 Active Duty slot and a Deployment Kit.
• Season 1: November 6, 2026. Hajin also becomes a Warzone Battle Royale map.

The mode

DMZ is an extraction mode: deploy, complete missions, loot, and exfil to keep what you found. Up to 20 squads and 60 players share a match, alongside North Korean forces. Die without exfiling and your Operator goes MIA and you lose your unsecured gear, but you always keep your XP.

A radiation storm spreads across Hajin during each match, with a timer on your HUD, so you have to get out in time.

The map: Hajin

Hajin has 13 major areas, rated from Low to Extreme threat. That ranges from calm Cheongun Village to the Extreme bunker under Chang-san Air Base. The Haneul Nuclear Reactor needs radiation gear and a gas mask.

The FOB: your base

The Forward Operating Base has 14 stations, from the Stash and Operators to the 3D Printer (DMZ Level 2), Vendor (Level 5), Gunsmith (Level 10) and Dog Tag Case (Level 20). The Boss Board opens after your 2nd Order.

Progression

• DMZ Player Level 1–70, separate from the normal 1–55 level. DMZ XP also counts toward the normal level.
• Operator Dog Tags: 18 levels, from Steel I to Onyx III, with 1 Trait Point each.
• Operator Prestige: 200,000 / 300,000 / 500,000 DMZ Cash plus gear, for a permanent trait.

Traits and skill trees

Three trees (Warfighter, Scout, Survivalist) with 66 traits (22 each), 18 points per Operator, max 9 per tree, no respec.

Missions

• Story Missions: 5 known, paying up to 25,000 DMZ Cash, or unlocking the LTV and Heli infils.
• DMZ Orders: guided tasks in chapters (Counterfeit, Underground, Human Intel).
• Dynamic Ops and Side Ops: cash, XP, Supply Drops and intel.

Loot, crafting and gear

• Loot breaks down into 4 resources. Rare ingredients stay as items.
• The 3D Printer crafts over 100 items and every FOB upgrade.
• Plate carriers from 1 to 3 plates, plus backpacks with Secure Slots that survive a failed exfil.

Weapons

32 launch weapons in 8 categories. Unlock a gun by exfiling with its Weapon Manual, then buy it at the Gunsmith: 5,000 for assault rifles, 3,000 for SMGs. Weapon levels are shared with Multiplayer and Warzone.

Combat and survival

• 150 health. The Tourniquet gets you up at 100. Only a Medkit repairs a wound.
• Stealth Meter and a 1–5 star threat level that sends stronger enemies the louder you are.

Bosses and PvP

• Lieutenants (intel at the Boss Board) and roaming Commanders: Colossus, Deathstalker, Tank.
• Bounties: you become Wanted at 4 Operator kills; at $100,000 you’re marked on nearby enemies’ Tac Maps.

Getting around

Infil on foot for free, or pay 5,000 to 100,000 DMZ Cash for a vehicle. Drive trucks, SUVs, boats and helicopters, and refuel at Gas Stations.

A lot will only be confirmed once people can play: exact exfil spots, most item stats, the full trait pool, every Order page and all recipe costs. We mark unknown values instead of guessing, and we’ll update this page through launch week.
