MW4 DMZ keys and loot rooms: how to find and use them
Read the key description, find any listed grid square and check the known route to its locked room.
Jump to a section
Match the full key name to its room and read the floor or entrance direction before travelling. Gun Store keys come from the Level 16 and 42 equipment kits; the Level 19 Recon kit has a Police Station Key, while Level 46 has a Black Market key. Use known room directions below; a Black Market locker is documented in a Hanrim Village shop stockroom.
- Lieutenants can drop a key to their special loot room
- Read any grid square shown in the key description
- Grid letters run west to east, numbers north to south
- Police Stations have locked armories
Find the key’s exact name first, then check the matching room below. A Gun Store key, a Black Market key and the casino’s Counting Room key open different locks. Finding a similar-looking building is not enough.
Already have a key? Use the Key Finder to search its name and check any recorded door or acquisition details. Keep reading for equipment-kit rewards, room directions and the differences between similar locks.
Get keys from level-up kits
For a focused kit-to-room checklist, use the Gun Store and Black Market Weapons Locker guide. It separates the known Gun Store basement references from the Hanrim Village Black Market entrance.
Claim earned kits at Survival Kits in the FOB and check their contents before deploying.
| Key | Kit and DMZ level | Where to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Gun Store Weapons Locker Key | Explosives Equipment Kit at 16; Trap Equipment Kit at 42 | Three locked cabinets in a gun-store basement; first location, second location |
| Police Station Key | Recon Equipment Kit at 19 | The exact matching station and door are not confirmed here |
| Black Market Weapons Locker Key | Recon Equipment Kit at 46 | Hanrim Village shop stockroom, behind the counter through green double doors |
The two Recon Equipment Kit rewards contain different keys. The Level 19 kit supplies the Police Station Key; the Level 46 kit supplies the Black Market Weapons Locker Key. The Gun Store basement markers are not Black Market locker locations.
Other acquisition routes include Lieutenant drops and Story Mission rewards. Use the individual key pages for the routes recorded for each key; keys are not guaranteed to come from the same source.
Read the description before travelling
- Match the full key name to the lock you want to open.
- If the description gives a grid square, find it on the Tac-Map. Letters run west to east; numbers run north to south.
- Read the floor or entrance direction. A basement parking room and a main-floor vault can be in the same building.
- Use the interactive map to plan the approach, then check your live Tac-Map for current hazards and extraction.
A grid square identifies a search area, not an exact door. Where a key description and an area page use different grid labels, follow the key’s current in-game description and check the entrance directions.
Casino keys: which vault is which?
Use the Counting Room Vault entrance walkthrough for the main-floor Cashier route.
| Lock | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Counting Room Vault | Behind the Cashier shopfront on the main floor of Heavenly Luck Casino; map marker |
| Vault Armory | Small armory in the casino’s underground parking; map marker |
| Silent Ledger mission vault | Follow the generator, penthouse security camera and basement drill objectives in the Silent Ledger walkthrough |
The Counting Room Vault key does not replace the mission’s basement drill sequence. Finish the Story Mission using its objective tracker, rather than searching for a key to bypass it.

Room directions by key
These are recorded entrance directions. Check the key’s current description when you arrive; a reference position does not guarantee loot or an available key in your deployment.

|---|---|
| Executive Arms Auction | Top of DBN Headquarters in The Grid |

More keys with usable destinations
| Key | Where to go |
|---|---|
| Black Market Weapons Locker | Hanrim Village shop: behind the counter, through green double doors to the named stockroom locker |
| Coin Mining Den | NuriGO West, grey office door beside a red fire alarm; landing 3 and OFFICE sign are reported directions |
| Roze’s High-Rise Armory | Upstairs offices in Netshin Tech Complex, The Grid; read the named teal door prompt |
| Supreme Leader Access Card | Card lists B6, the Supreme Leader’s Bunker deep inside Chang-san Air Base; the full reader approach is unconfirmed |
| Mechanic’s Shack | F5, standalone shack south of Cheongun Village’s clinic, single white door |
| Militia Arms Depot | Card lists G7, lower-floor armory of Gangbyeon Apartment B at the Hajin River Heights compound |
For Roze, do not substitute her DBN rooftop fight for the armory destination. For the Supreme Leader card, Iron Citadel’s upgraded mission card and six-digit keypad remain separate interactions.
Named locked rooms
These room names are visible on locks, but their exact inventory key names or acquisition routes remain incomplete. Search the Key Finder by room name rather than guessing a similarly named key.
| Room | Entrance information |
|---|---|
| Police Station Armory | Pyeonghwa Village police station basement, beside holding cells and the caged armory window |
| Gas Station Electrical Room | Construction Zone gas station, grey door beside a noticeboard on a blue-striped brick wall |
| Old Barber Shop | Songdo Wharf shop, pale door beside a phone and noticeboard in a checkerboard corridor |
| Silo Control Room | Underground silo complex; the route passes a stairway near silo 42; surface entrance unconfirmed |
| Field Depot | Chang-san warehouse northeast of the clinic, light door with a red panel |
| Fire Station Storage | Cheongun Village fire station upstairs landing, reached by a yellow-and-red-striped stairwell |
An office-desk key pickup is reported at police stations, but its exact equivalence to the level 19 Police Station Key is unconfirmed. Police Weapon Depository opens a different auxiliary armory.
Other ways keys and rooms can help
- Counting Room Vault key: observed in an industrial locker on the Rice Mill catwalk route, in addition to the Silent Ledger reward. This is not a guaranteed spawn.
- Militia Arms Depot key: observed in a duffel in The Citadel East Wing. Do not assume every duffel contains one.
- Doctor’s Command Office: a Tempered Armor Vest recipe was observed in its Lieutenant crate. Extract with any recipe you find; the room does not guarantee that drop.
Keys with an unconfirmed door location
| Key | What is established here |
|---|---|
| Police Station Key | Level 19 Recon Equipment Kit; exact matching station still unconfirmed |
| Underground Propaganda Store Room | Reported beneath the Re-Education Center; precise entrance unconfirmed |
Use the recorded area and current key description where available. Where the exact entrance remains unknown, avoid treating an area marker as a confirmed door.
Story Mission key rewards
| Mission | Reported key reward |
|---|---|
| Critical Extraction | Mirae Electrical Room, Rare |
| Silent Ledger | Counting Room Vault, Epic |
| Shopping Hacks | Coin Mining Den Key, Rare |
| Iron Citadel | Supreme Leader Access Card, Legendary |
| Grid Assault | Roze’s High-Rise Armory, Legendary |
| Fallen Ember | Reactor DRC Locker, Ultra |
The keys are separate from each mission’s main objective. Check your reward screen after completion instead of assuming that opening a mission vault also opens its reward-key room.
Before opening a loot room
- Bring only the keys relevant to your route. Stash the rest before deployment.
- Check hazards and bring the required protection for the reactor.
- Leave backpack space for loot and use eligible Secure Slots deliberately.
- Recheck the full key name at the door before spending time on the wrong floor.
- Plan extraction before making another locked-room detour, especially while carrying a Lieutenant Dog Tag Case.
Quick questions
How do I find where a key goes in MW4 DMZ?
Read the key's description. When it gives a Tac-Map grid square, such as I4, use that as your search area. Letters run west to east and numbers run north to south, so find that square on the Tac-Map and search it for the locked door.
Where do keys come from?
Keys come from several routes, including equipment kits earned through DMZ levels, reported Story Mission rewards and Lieutenant drops. Check the exact key: the Level 19 and 46 Recon Equipment Kits contain different keys.
How do I find the right door for a key?
Use the key's page to match its name to the room before travelling. Some exact doors and ways to obtain keys remain unconfirmed.
