Is the MW4 Vault Edition worth it for DMZ? Every DMZ bonus explained

One extra Operator slot and a kit of starter supplies. What the Vault Edition actually changes in DMZ, and who should buy it.

Pre-launch guide. Written from official info released before early access. We update it as the game goes live.

In short

For DMZ, the MW4 Vault Edition adds one extra Active Duty slot and a Vault Edition Deployment Kit: 2 Weapon Insurance Contracts, 2 Operator Rescue Beacons, 2 Fulton Drop Markers, 2 Medium Backpacks and two 2-Plate Carriers. It arrives at full launch on October 23. The kit is a one-time head start; the extra Active Duty slot is the bigger benefit.

  • +1 Active Duty slot
  • Deployment Kit: 10 starter items
  • Available at full launch, October 23
  • $30 upgrade from Digital Standard

The Vault Edition comes with a DMZ Deployment Bonus. Here is exactly what it gives you in DMZ, and how much it matters.

Activision lists the Deployment Bonus as available at full launch on October 23, after DMZ early access starts on October 20. The Digital Standard Edition doesn’t include it.

The Vault Edition also includes weapon blueprints. Our database lists the Combat Knife, ISO Nightshade, Kastov 762, Oris 8.6 and Rezi 12. In DMZ, each blueprint you own has a single free use, and you can rebuy it at a discount after you lose it (Blueprint use in DMZ). A blueprint is a build, not a free Gunsmith unlock. You still need the Weapon Manual for repeat base purchases.

How much is it worth?

The extra Active Duty slot: the bigger benefit

Normally you start with 2 Active Duty slots; Vault Edition owners start with 3. When an Operator dies, they go MIA and can’t deploy until you rescue them with DMZ Cash (MIA Operator recovery). A third slot means one more Operator ready to go while you save up for a rescue. That matters most in your first days, when cash is tight.

You can also get more slots without the Vault Edition: higher DMZ Levels unlock them, and so does the Active Duty Slot Upgrade.

The kit: a head start, used once

  • 2 Medium Backpacks come with Secure Slots, so your best loot survives a failed run. You can also print them yourself from DMZ Level 2 for 50 Synthetics and 5 Rigid Synthetics.
  • Two 2-Plate Carriers are solid early armor. You can print these from DMZ Level 2 too, for 50 Synthetics and 5 Reactive Metals.
  • The Insurance Contracts, Rescue Beacons and Fulton Drop Markers have no official descriptions yet. Creators explain them like this: an insured weapon comes back if you lose it, a Rescue Beacon recovers an MIA Operator without paying cash, and a Fulton Drop Marker sends gear out of Hajin by balloon. We will confirm this at launch.

Who should get it

A DMZ-first player starting on day oneWorth it for the extra Active Duty slot alone
A casual DMZ playerOptional. The kit gear can be printed early anyway.
Mostly a Multiplayer or Warzone playerNot for DMZ. Judge it on the other Vault content.
