MW4 DMZ Gunsmith and weapons: prices, unlocks and how builds work
Unlock a gun once, buy it again and again. How the Gunsmith works, what guns cost, and how to build them.
Pre-launch guide. Written from official info released before early access. We update it as the game goes live.
In DMZ you unlock a base weapon at the Gunsmith by exfiling with its Weapon Manual. After that you can buy it with DMZ Cash: 5,000 for assault rifles like the M4 and 3,000 for SMGs like the ISO Nightshade. Base weapons come with no attachments, so you buy up to 5 attachment slots, each costing more than the last. Fail to exfil and the gun is lost.
- Gunsmith unlocks at DMZ Level 10
- Assault rifles 5,000 · SMGs 3,000
- Up to 5 paid attachment slots
- Weapon levels carry over from Multiplayer and Warzone
Your gun is the biggest investment you take into Hajin. Here is how DMZ weapons work, from the first unlock to a full build.
Unlocking a weapon
You don’t unlock a gun by picking it up. You unlock it with a Weapon Manual:
- Find a Weapon Manual in Hajin.
- Exfil with it. That permanently unlocks the base weapon at the Gunsmith, so you can buy it again and again, and pays 5,000 DMZ Cash.
Details: Weapon purchase unlock. The Gunsmith station itself opens at DMZ Level 10. Officially it offers 32 launch weapons:
| Category | Weapons |
|---|---|
| Assault Rifles | 8 |
| SMGs | 5 |
| Shotguns | 2 |
| LMGs | 3 |
| Marksman Rifles | 3 |
| Sniper Rifles | 3 |
| Pistols | 4 |
| Launchers (no attachments) | 4 |
Until you extract Weapon Manuals, you rely on guns you find: on enemies and Lieutenants, on players you kill, in military containers at Police Stations and Compounds, from the Free Loadout, or from the Vendor.

”–” means not shown yet. With the Gunsmith Discount upgrade, these drop by 5%: an official cart showed 4,750 and 2,850.
Other known weapons: the Mosin-Nagant (a Rare one was a Vendor offer at 32,750), the Oris 8.6, the Rezi 12 shotgun, the Combat Knife, and the Type 73 LMG. A Legendary Type 73 called “Dreadnought”, with a 100-round box mag, was looted at the Tank Depot during official Dynamic Ops footage.
Building your gun
- Base weapons have no attachments. Level the gun in Multiplayer or DMZ to unlock attachments, then buy them with DMZ Cash.
- Buy up to 5 attachment slots, in any order. Each slot costs more than the last.
- Real example: an ISO Nightshade (3,000) with a Pulse-MW Laser (1,900) plus the first attachment slot (1,000) came to 5,700 after the 5% discount.
- Big builds get expensive: a 5-attachment long-range M4 build from Gunny, the Gunsmith’s helper, cost 99,987.
- The Apex slot is free once your weapon is leveled to it.
- Seen in official footage: attachments priced at 1,900, 3,800 and 6,887 DMZ Cash, on top of each slot.
- Found guns can be bigger: Gunsmith builds take 5 attachments plus an Apex, but weapons found in Hajin can have up to 8.
- Cosmetics are free. Camos, charms, gun screens, decals and stickers cost nothing.
See all attachments and the slots they fit.
Weapon progression across modes
- Weapon levels and attachment unlocks are shared between DMZ, Multiplayer and Warzone (Cross-mode weapon progression).
- An attachment unlocks once and carries over to compatible weapons. When a gun would unlock an attachment you already own, you get a Bonus Level Up instead (Shared Attachment Bonus Level Up).
- A DMZ Weapon Manual doesn’t unlock the gun in Multiplayer.
How many guns you can carry
You bring two weapons and a melee weapon in and out of a deployment. A Weapon Backpack, like the Medium Weapon Backpack, adds a slot for one more. See Weapon carry limit.
Blueprints
Known blueprints so far: the Vault Edition’s Kastov 762 “Voltspine”, ISO Nightshade “La Sombra Venenosa”, Rezi 12 “Shattered Code”, Oris 8.6 “Volt-Edge” and Combat Knife “Sombra Besada”; the Beta reward Han 86 “Beta Forged”; and the pre-order M4 “Inner Circuit”.
A Weapon Blueprint is a ready-made build. In DMZ, each one you own has a single free use. If you lose it in a deployment, you can buy it again with DMZ Cash at a discount (Blueprint use in DMZ).
Keep your gun safe
- Fail to exfil and the gun is lost. Every weapon is an investment.
- Weapon Prestige is available for each weapon.
- Weapons wear down. Damage to optics, attachments and parts changes how a gun looks and handles.
- DMZ has its own damage tuning, close to Warzone and adjusted for plate carriers (DMZ damage and movement tuning).
- Test before you buy at the Firing Range: targets from under 10 m to over 100 m.

Quick questions
How do you unlock weapons in DMZ?
Exfil with that weapon's Weapon Manual. It permanently unlocks the base weapon at the Gunsmith and also pays 5,000 DMZ Cash. Picking up the gun itself does not unlock it.
Do Multiplayer weapon levels carry over to DMZ?
Yes. Weapon levels and attachment unlocks are shared between DMZ, Multiplayer and Warzone. Buying the gun in DMZ still needs its Weapon Manual.
Are there AP rounds in DMZ?
No. The developers have said there are no armor-piercing rounds, or a similar field upgrade, in DMZ for now.
