Where to find crafting materials in MW4 DMZ
Industrial loot, medical buildings and military holdings serve different goals. Search for the ingredient you need, not just a fuller backpack.
Jump to a section
Open Ingredient Locations on the recipe you need. Reactive Metals point to industrial areas and toolboxes; Binding Catalyst points to Mirae General Hospital and medical tents; Control Units point to computers and tech bags. Some ingredients can also be printed after a Printer upgrade. Location hints are search areas, not guaranteed spawns.
- Reactive Metals: industrial areas and toolboxes
- Binding Catalyst: Mirae General Hospital and medical tents
- Pin a recipe to highlight its ingredients
- Use map service filters to plan stops and extraction
If your recipe is missing Reactive Metals, another bag of random valuables is not progress toward that craft. Open the recipe, note the missing quantity and use its location hint to choose a search area.
This guide separates specific ingredient hints from general loot categories. A medical building is a sensible supply stop, but that does not make every clinic a guaranteed Biomaterials spawn.
Find the hint for your actual shortage
For a medical supply run, use the Biomaterials and Binding Catalyst checklist to turn a Medkit shortage into a specific shopping list and check the Biomaterials printing alternative.
Short on these two upgrade ingredients? The Electronic Sensors and High-Tenacity Fibers guide covers specific search leads, the sensor printing alternative and materials to reserve for FOB upgrades.
At the FOB, open the 3D Printer, select your recipe and choose Ingredient Locations. Match the full ingredient name to the table below. Use Track Recipe to highlight the ingredients you need while looting.
| Ingredient | Search-area hint |
|---|---|
| Biomaterials | Hospitals and chemical lockers |
| Control Units | Computers and tech bags |
| Detonators | Military and industrial areas |
| Electronic Sensors | Tech bags and commercial areas |
| Binding Catalyst | Mirae General Hospital and medical tents |
| CPU and Comms Module | Netshin Tech Complex and Cheonwang Peak Array server rooms; Deadtown hillside buildings |
| Nitro Compounds | NuriGO Mall DRC lab, Citadel Prison Yard chemical buildings and Imjin Farmland storage tents |
| Nylon Cloth and Nylon Laminate | Citadel main building wings, Deadtown underground holding area and the casino’s Mujin Nightclub |
These hints narrow the search; they do not promise an item in every container. Check the current in-game panel before committing to a long route.
More reported ingredient leads
The ingredient pages now include these newer firsthand community reports:
| Ingredient | Reported search area or enemy |
|---|---|
| Structural Alloy and Alloyed Plating | Chang-san hangars/repair bays; Bubun Yard |
| Ballistic Fabric | Chang-san armory/barracks; La Grande Vie rooftop |
| Stock Rod | Imjin rice mill; Hajin construction; Namjjog Station |
| Printed Circuit Board | Reactor/substations; an airbase bunker shelf find |
| Military Composites | Colossus |
| Nano-Structured Alloy | Tank |
| Experimental Compounds | Occasional Commander loot; one loose Imjin road find |
Enemy associations do not establish guaranteed drops. Older official preview panels may withhold hints that players have since reported.
What the location hints actually tell us
| Target | Documented search area | How to use the information |
|---|---|---|
| Reactive Metals | Industrial areas and toolboxes | Prioritize suitable containers instead of treating all civilian loot equally |
| Basic Printer resources | Homes and Gas Stations | Use general looting to fill specific resource shortages |
| Medical supplies | Clinics and hospitals | Combine a supply stop with your material run; exact ingredient drops are not guaranteed |
| Improved loot | Compounds | Consider the additional combat risk before making one a detour |
| Printer ingredients from threats | Documented Commander drops, including the Tank | Treat this as a combat objective, not a low-risk replacement for container searches |
The ingredient pages retain the broad hints. They do not establish an exact drop rate, a guaranteed quantity or a respawn timer.
Check whether you can print the missing ingredient
Once the relevant printing upgrade is unlocked, these recipes offer another way to fill a shortage:
| Ingredient recipe | Listed inputs | Required upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Reactive Metals | 20 Chemicals + 20 Metals | Ingredient Printing |
| Rigid Synthetics | 20 Synthetics + 20 Metals | Ingredient Printing |
| Biomaterials | 20 Synthetics + 20 Chemicals | Ingredient Printing |
| Control Units | 20 Electronics + 20 Metals | Ingredient Printing |
| Nylon Laminate | 100 Synthetics + 3 Nylon Cloth | Epic Ingredient Printing |
Unlocking the 3D Printer does not unlock every ingredient recipe. Compare the upgrade price and material cost with the shortage you are trying to solve. Check the recipe card before spending your stored inputs.
Build a route with service markers
Open the interactive Hajin map and enable the service types relevant to your run. Use the Clinics, Gas Stations and Compounds pages to open their recorded map positions.
Choose a compact area with the right building types and an extraction plan. Crossing the entire map for a broad loot hint can expose the ingredients you already carry to more fights than the extra search is worth.
Threat can vary within an area. Cheongun Village has a Low baseline, while its Heavenly Luck Casino is High. A familiar area name does not make every building inside it equally safe. Use the Hajin area guide before moving into a sublocation.
Example: gathering for a 2-Plate Armor Vest
The 2-Plate Armor Vest recipe requires 50 Synthetics and 5 Reactive Metals. Its recipe unlock is at DMZ Level 2.
- Count what you already own. If the Stash has three Reactive Metals, your ingredient target is two more, not five.
- Pin the recipe. Recipe tracking highlights required ingredients while looting.
- Search the right container type. Use the industrial-area and toolbox hint for the missing Reactive Metals.
- Watch the separate resource total. Reactive Metals do not satisfy the 50 Synthetics requirement.
- Leave with a complete craft. Once you have what you need, decide whether another fight is worth risking it.
This example is a shopping plan. It does not promise that a particular toolbox will contain the missing two pieces.
Check level rewards before chasing a rare drop
The DMZ level timeline also awards ingredients: two Rigid Synthetics at Level 6, two Reactive Metals at Level 11 and two Binding Catalysts at Level 49 are documented examples. Check your next reward when a small shortage is blocking a craft.
Later, Ingredient Printing and Epic Ingredient Printing open another supply route. Check the actual component and displayed cost in the Printer before assuming that upgrade solves your recipe.
Turn the next run into a specific shopping trip
Use the crafting planner to total selected recipes, compare that list with your inventory, and choose one shortage to tackle first. For ingredients with no documented location hint, use the in-game recipe panel rather than relying on a made-up map pin.
After extraction, the loot sorting guide helps decide what goes into the next craft and what stays reserved for an upgrade.
Quick questions
Where do Reactive Metals spawn?
The documented location hint is industrial areas and toolboxes. It does not identify a guaranteed container or fixed spawn coordinate.
Where can I find Nylon Laminate?
The newer ingredient hint names the Citadel's main building wings, Deadtown's underground holding area and Heavenly Luck Casino's Mujin Nightclub. Epic Ingredient Printing is another route if you have the upgrade and its required inputs.
Does the companion map show every ingredient?
It shows recorded locations and services. Service markers help choose places to search; they are not a live inventory of the loot in each building.
