MW4 DMZ Irradiated Container: how to decontaminate it

The Irradiated Container is an Ultra loot item that needs reactor decontamination. If you already have one, the useful next step is preparing a protected trip to Haneul Nuclear Reactor. The reactor is its reported use location. It is not an established guaranteed place to find another container.

Where to decontaminate the Irradiated Container

Community reports place the machine on the ground floor inside breached Reactor 02, the reactor building with the blown-open roof. Look for a large rectangular machine offering an interaction to decontaminate an item.

The reports agree on the breached building but differ on interior directions. Open the reported decontamination station reference to plan your approach. This community map point has not been independently verified as the machine’s exact position. Confirm the breached building and interaction prompt in your deployment.

What to bring to the reactor

Prepare Radiation Gear, also called a Hazmat Suit, and a Gas Mask. The official Hajin briefing requires protective apparel and a gas mask in the reactor. Search Fire Stations for protective gear before committing to the trip. Finding a suit on a particular visit is not guaranteed.

Use the radiation guide to check your protection before leaving. Bring healing, check your current equipment condition and choose an extraction route while you still have supplies. Radiation Blockers are temporary support, so do not treat them as a replacement for the stated reactor equipment.

How to use the decontamination machine

1. Check that you are carrying the container. Move it from your Stash into the loadout you intend to deploy with.
2. Find breached Reactor 02. Open the Haneul Nuclear Reactor area on the map, then use the building and interaction cues inside your deployment. The area pin does not mark an interior door.
3. Approach the rectangular machine. Follow the decontamination prompt shown for your carried item. The full button sequence and a fixed processing time have not been verified here.
4. Check the result and plan your exit. Inspect what you receive before leaving the machine. Keep enough time and protection for extraction.

What can be inside?

Players report Weapon Manuals, a plate carrier and a Nyx SMG blueprint from containers. These are individual reward reports. They do not establish a complete loot table, a drop rate or a guaranteed reward on your next opening.

A reported Manual find also does not establish a repeatable Manual farm. Use the Weapon Manuals guide to understand the extraction unlock, and check the blueprint rules if you receive a weapon reward.

Do you need Fallen Ember first?

Players connect the decontamination chamber to Operation Fallen Ember, whose objectives lead through this part of the reactor. Our Fallen Ember walkthrough covers the mission route.

Completing that mission has not been verified as a prerequisite for opening an Irradiated Container. Its fuel rods are separate mission items. Check whether your current objective asks for rods or whether you are simply trying to open the container you found.

If you cannot find the machine or prompt

Confirm the item name, the breached Reactor 02 building and the displayed interaction. A general reactor marker does not identify a particular machine. If you cannot locate it before your protection runs low, leave and prepare another attempt rather than searching deeper without a safe return plan.

A missing prompt does not establish that the item is broken or that a particular mission is required. Those explanations need further verification. No guaranteed container spawn or farming route is documented here.
