MW4 DMZ Operator Prestige: requirements for every tier
What it costs to Prestige an Operator, what you lose, and why the permanent trait is worth it.
Pre-launch guide. Written from official info released before early access. We update it as the game goes live.
To Prestige an Operator in DMZ you need 18 Trait Points and must hand in DMZ Cash plus gear of a set rarity: 200,000 cash and Rare gear for Prestige 1, 300,000 and Epic for Prestige 2, and 500,000 and Legendary for Prestige 3 and every Prestige after. In return the Operator gets a random permanent trait. You can keep up to three.
- Needs 18 Trait Points, used or not
- Prestige 1: 200,000 DMZ Cash
- Prestige 2: 300,000 DMZ Cash
- Prestige 3 and later: 500,000 DMZ Cash
Operator Prestige is DMZ’s long-term goal for a single Operator. You hand in a big pile of DMZ Cash and gear, reset the Operator’s traits, and get a permanent trait that stays with them for good.
It is optional. It is separate from your Player Level and from Multiplayer Prestige.
Who can Prestige
An Operator can Prestige when they:
- have 18 Trait Points. It doesn’t matter whether you spent them;
- are on Active Duty and ready to deploy, so not MIA.
Trait Points come from the Operator’s Dog Tag level: one point per level, 18 in total. See Operator Dog Tag progression and our Dog Tags guide.
Requirements for every tier
You must equip this gear on the Operator and pay the cash. All of it is consumed.
| Prestige 1 | Prestige 2 | Prestige 3 and later | |
|---|---|---|---|
| DMZ Cash | 200,000 | 300,000 | 500,000 |
| Trait Points | 18 | 18 | 18 |
| Weapons | 2, each with 3 attachment slots, Rare or better | 2, each with 4 attachment slots | 2, each with 4 attachment slots |
| Plate carrier | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
| Backpack | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
| Ingredients | 4 Rare | 4 Epic | 4 Legendary |
Prestige 3’s requirements repeat for every Prestige after it.
What you lose
Prestige wipes the Operator’s build and takes the payment:
- the DMZ Cash and all equipped gear;
- every Trait you picked and your skill tree progress;
- any unspent Trait Points.
Anything left on the Operator is consumed. Move what you want to keep into your Stash or backpack first.
What you get: permanent traits
Each Prestige gives the Operator a random permanent trait:
- It belongs to that Operator and survives a skin change, a slot change, or a dismissal.
- An Operator can hold up to three.
- From Prestige 4, you are offered a new trait each time. Swap it for one of your three, or turn it down.
Permanent traits sit on top of the 18 points you earn again, so a Prestiged Operator ends up stronger than a fresh one.
How to get ready
- Bank the cash early. Extract valuables like the Gold bar and complete Dynamic Operations for cash.
- Collect the gear in your Stash before you start: two upgraded weapons, the right plate carrier and backpack.
- Save four ingredients of the right rarity. See the crafting guide for where ingredients come from.
- Plan the rebuild. After Prestige you pick traits again. The skill tree planner shows the full board.
Quick questions
Do I lose my traits when I Prestige in DMZ?
Yes. Your chosen Traits, skill tree progress and any unspent Trait Points are removed. You keep the new permanent trait, and earn your 18 points again.
Is Operator Prestige the same as Multiplayer Prestige?
No. Operator Prestige is a separate, optional reset for one DMZ Operator. It does not touch your Player Level or Multiplayer Prestige.
Can I Prestige an MIA Operator?
No. The Operator must be on Active Duty and ready to deploy, so rescue them first.
How much does Operator Prestige cost?
Prestige 1 costs 200,000 DMZ Cash, Prestige 2 costs 300,000, and Prestige 3 and later cost 500,000 each. You also need 18 Trait Points and must equip two upgraded weapons, a plate carrier, a backpack and four ingredients of the right rarity. All of it is consumed.
Is Operator Prestige worth it?
Yes, for an Operator you plan to keep. You earn your 18 Trait Points again, and the permanent trait sits on top of them (up to three), so a Prestiged Operator ends up stronger than a fresh one. Wait if losing the cash and the equipped gear would leave you broke.
