MW4's October 19 reveals: the unlocks DMZ players should plan around

The useful news is in the requirements: which mode earns each Operator, which level opens your next station, and what a weapon reset changes.

In short

The October 19 launch information details 33 Operators, 33 weapons and progression systems relevant to DMZ. Four Operators unlock through DMZ levels, while Campaign and Multiplayer provide other routes. The progression reveal separates weapon camo mastery and Weapon Prestige from DMZ Operator Prestige.

  • Launch roster: 33 Operators and 33 weapons
  • DMZ Operator unlocks at Levels 4, 9, 15 and 19
  • Weapon Prestige and Operator Prestige have different resets
  • DMZ early access scheduled for October 20 at 10 AM PT

The October 19 launch reveals give DMZ players something more useful than a bigger list of names: requirements they can plan around. The roster spans immediate access, Campaign rewards, DMZ levels, Multiplayer challenges and purchase bonuses. Progression also has several separate tracks, and choosing the wrong one can leave you working toward a different reward than you intended.

Here are the details that affect a DMZ player’s next decision, with links to the full guides and companion records.

Pick an Operator goal in the right mode

The 33-Operator launch roster includes four earned through DMZ: Reece at Level 4, Coffey at 9, Simone at 15 and Hector at 19. These are DMZ Player Level requirements. Weapon levels do not substitute for them.

DMZ has its own roster milestones. Other characters require a different mode or edition.

Eight Operators come from Campaign missions and five have Multiplayer challenges. Five are available immediately. The remaining routes include preorder, Vault Edition and Endowment rewards, plus Ju Kwon’s still-classified requirement.

The complete Operator unlock guide groups every character by route. Use it before committing to a challenge grind, especially if you are choosing a character whose requirement belongs outside DMZ.

A weapon roster is not a DMZ damage ranking

The launch total is 33 weapons: 32 firearms and launchers, plus one melee weapon. The reveal supplies weapon details and Apex conversion information that can help you compare options.

It does not make a Multiplayer stat panel a complete DMZ damage model. Armor, damage tuning and the conditions of an engagement matter. Our weapon pages present the available information and imagery; they do not turn missing DMZ damage values into an invented best-weapon ranking.

There is also a purchase-rule detail worth watching. The latest arsenal article describes Gunsmith access for weapons unlocked or leveled in Multiplayer or DMZ, while earlier FOB instructions emphasize Weapon Manuals. The Gunsmith guide now explains that difference rather than presenting the Manual route as the only settled possibility. Check the weapon’s purchase requirement in your FOB before planning around cross-mode access.

Plan station access around DMZ levels

The DMZ reward track runs to Level 70. Early practical stops are the Printer at Level 2, Vendor at Level 5 and Gunsmith at Level 10. Later rewards expand storage and open more options.

The important reading habit is to distinguish a recipe from an item reward. A recipe enables crafting; it does not hand you an endless supply of finished equipment. The level roadmap separates the milestones and includes every documented level entry.

Camos and Prestige are different long-term goals

DMZ’s camo path moves from individual weapon requirements through roster-wide completion gates, then to Chiral, Ripple Tide and Helio. Some tasks specify enemy tier, a single deployment or extraction conditions. A large kill total alone does not meet all of them.

Weapon Prestige adds another choice: reset a max-level weapon, re-earn most attachment access, and pursue its own rewards while retaining cosmetics. Operator Prestige instead concerns an individual Operator’s traits, cash and gear.

Use the camo guide for challenge order and the Prestige comparison before confirming a reset. They answer different questions and should be planned separately.

What to prepare for early access

The announced early-access start is October 20 at 10 AM PT for eligible digital preorders, ahead of the October 23 full launch.

For the first sessions, choose one near-term station unlock and one equipment goal. The FOB upgrade guide helps avoid spending on capacity you do not need yet; the loot decision guide helps keep the ingredients that fund that goal.

The Season 1 article covers the separate November roadmap. The October 19 arsenal and progression reveals are not a new map expansion or a launch patch-note changelog.
